In July 2017, The Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) launched a new e-Learning resource for health and mental health professionals on intellectual disability mental health. These courses allow health and mental health professionals to learn about mental health and intellectual disability at their own pace. These courses may also be useful for students and other professionals who want to learn more about intellectual disability and health.
The courses cover fundamental topics like communication, consent and decision-making, and advanced topics like assessment and management of mental disorders in intellectual disability, assessment and management of behaviours of concern, and mental health care in emergency departments.
To see the learning objectives and key topics associated with each of the courses, go to this document.

The e-Learning resource can be accessed after a quick registration at idhealtheducation.mygo1.com. Once registered, click on ‘Health Professionals’ on the main dashboard to view all of the available courses for health professionals. You can then purchase access to each of the courses that interest you.
If you are a NSW Health staff member, some of the courses can be accessed for free through My Health Learning on HETI.
