About Us

This site is published by The Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

We champion the right of people with an intellectual or developmental disability to the same level of health and mental health care as the rest of the population. We promote a standard of excellence in clinical practice, research, workforce development, education and policy in the field of intellectual and developmental disability mental health.

Our Vision is the highest attainable standard of mental health and wellbeing for people with an intellectual or developmental disability, and our mission is to improve health policy, practice and supports for people with an intellectual or developmental disability, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.

Our core funding is provided by Ageing Disability and Home Care, Family and Community Services NSW and the Mental Health Branch, NSW Ministry of Health. We work closely with government departments, other universities and departments, medical colleges, clinicians, consumer representatives, local health services and hospitals, and NGOs to achieve this mission.

This e-learning resource represents one of our activities under Strategic priority 1 – Improve mental health outcomes for people with an intellectual or developmental disability, and Strategic priority 2 – Increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of the health and disability workforce to deliver quality care and support to people with an intellectual or developmental disability.
